Week 40 January 19 Joshua Samuel was born at 11:55 pm. 7 lbs 5 oz 19 1/2 in Complete Birth Story
Week 40 January 14 Fifteenth Dr. appt; Second internal - still fingertip dialation, cervix starting to soften, but no effacement and station 0. Dr. was going to strip the membranes, but she couldn't reach the cervix very well because Josh's head was in the way. Josh's eviction notice is set for the 26 - 28th should he need it.
Week 40 January 14 Josh's DUE DATE - how long will he make us wait till he decides to grace us with his presence!
Week 39 January 7 Fourteenth Dr. appt; First internal - fingertip dialation, no effacement and station 0. Josh has fully engaged. He dropped another cm. Dr. said that he will probably come within the next 7 - 10 days. Looks like he will be coming near his due date afterall. Ok, Josh, let's prove the dr. wrong and come sooner.
Week 38 December 31 Thirteenth Dr. appt; Josh has officially dropped about 2 cm. He decided to flip over with his back on Mommy's back. (Mommy's not excited about back labor - Turn over, Josh). Because of his position the dr. had a tough time finding his heart beat, but finally did. Dr. said that he could come at any time (unfortunately no tax deduction this year).
Week 37 December 29 Cousin Nathanael Josiah was born at 5:06 am 9 lbs 2 oz and 22 in (One week over due). Let's hope that Josh isn't that big!
Week 37 December 25 Started to lose the mucus plug. Is Josh really on his way?
Week 36 December 17 Work Shower hosted by Shannon; It was a really nice way to end Mommy's last day of work.
Week 35 December 15 Twelfth Dr. appt; Josh measured at 34 weeks, but prefectly healthly (heartbeat 120/min). He even gave us a show of his feet, back and knees. His estimated weight is 5.5 to 6.0 lbs. The dr. said that he just has to make it a couple more days til he's considered full term. We made the remaining 3 drs. appts. should we need them. Ok, Josh, it's all up to you now!
Week 33 December 1 Eleventh Dr. appt; Josh is still measuring a little small, but is very healthy. Went over Birth Plan with Dr. and had it placed in the front of Mommy's medical records.
Week 33 November 25 Second Baby/Child Care Class: Mommy and Dadddy learned about breastfeeding.
Week 32 November 23 Tour of Labor & Delivery: Got to see where Josh will be born. Mommy and Daddy are excited because it's starting to seem more real.
Week 32 November 21 Surprise Shower hosted by Andrea and Connie. Mommy was very surprised to find that it was at her house. About 40 people came; it was lots of fun.
Week 32 November 19 Fifth Childbirth Class: Learned about Post Partum and had a Potluck to celebrate our completion of the course. Are Mommy and Daddy ready??
Week 31 November 18 First Baby/Child Care Class: Mommy and Daddy learned about CPR, giving a bath, diapering, and swaddling.
Week 31 November 17 Tenth Dr. appt; Josh measured only 1 week behind. He's been growing a lot. Dr. said he's very healthy and is a text book pregnancy.
Week 31 November 12 Fourth Childbirth Class: Learned more about active labor and continued breathing exercises.
Week 30 November 5 Third Childbirth Class: Saw two C-Section Births and learned about various medications.
Week 29 November 3 Ninth Dr. appt; Josh is in the 41%-ile and very healthy. Mommy and Daddy learned where Josh's little feet and shoulder are. Visits have been moved to every two weeks now.
Week 29 October 29 Second Childbirth Class: Saw three real birth videos and learned breathing techniques.
Week 29 October 29 Third Ultrasound - Josh is still a Josh! He's measuring 29 weeks and approximately weighs 2.5 lbs. His head is turned down - let's hope it stays there. He gets a clean bill of health (heartbeat 151/min).
Week 28 October 27 Eighth Dr. appt; Mommy gets to go off bedrest and to back to work as long as she takes it easy.
Week 28 October 25 Emergency Trip to L&D due to spotting; Josh has a very strong heartbeat (139/min) and is very healthy; saw him briefly on the ultrasound - He's getting big. Mommy has to spend 2-3 days on bedrest and told to slow down.
Week 28 October 24 Finished Josh's Classic Pooh Honey Pots Nursery with the help from Gramsey and Papa.
Week 28 October 22 First Childbirth Class: The reality is starting to set in and learn stretching exercises.
Week 27 October 20 Seventh Dr. appt; Josh is measuring 3 wks behind, another ultrasound has been ordered on 10/29/98; Otherwise, Josh is very healthy.
Week 25 October 5 Heard Josh's heartbeat with Bebe Sounds for about 3 minutes before he decided to kick at it
Week 23 September 22 Sixth Dr. appt; Josh is progressing well. He's measuring 23 wks with health heartbeat
Week 22 September 12 Family Shower hosted by Aunt Pat, Aunt Cherry, Grandma and Rebecca
Week 21 September 8 Fun Co-ed Baby Shower hosted by Sarah
Week 20 September 1 Fifth Dr. appt; Josh's heartbeat is so loud that the nurse down the hall can hear it. Josh is measuring 22 wks. How big is he going to be when he's born?
