Track the Progress to Delivery

Week #DateComment
Week 38 May 7 My Water broke at 5:20 am! After 9 1/2 hours of labor and 3 pushes, Jolie joined the outside world at 2:53 pm weighing 6 lbs 7 oz and 19 inches long. See her complete Birth Story!
Week 37 April 29 Twelveth Dr. Appt; Jolie's heart rate was 156/min. I'm still only 1 cm dialated, 75% effaced and her head is station -2 (although I believe it's lower than that). She is doing great. It's still up to her when she wants to enter into the outside world.
Week 37 April 27 Sixth Trip to L&D; After having contractions ranging from 2 to 6 minutes apart for over 6 hours, we headed back to L&D at 3 am. Unfortunately, I was still only 1 cm dialated and 50-75% effaced. Jolie's heart rate was back down in the 150s/min. She is very healthy according to the nurse. They had me walk the halls for 45 minutes in hopes that I would have more progress. Since there was no progress, they sent me home with a sleeping pill to help me get some rest at 6 am. I was told to come back when the contractions were more intense or my water broke. Something tells me that this is going to be a long 3 weeks!
Week 37 April 26 It's official!! We made it to 37 weeks which is considered full term. I'm off Bedrest. And, it's all up to Jolie now. She can make her entrance at any time and no one will stop her. Of course, she's probably wait till she's overdue. I hope it's much sooner!
Week 36 April 22 Eleventh Dr. Appt; Jolie's heartrate is around 160/min. Josh came and heard Jolie's heart beat. He thought it was pretty cool. He charmed the nurses and dr. I'm still 1 cm dialated and 50-75% effaced. He didn't check the head internally, but externally, he could tell it is very low. I'm allowed to stop taking the Terbutaline pills and am off bedrest on Friday. So, Jolie, it's up to you to decide when you want to meet us.
Week 35 April 15 Tenth Dr. Appt; Jolie's heartrate is around 160/min. I'm 1 cm dialated, 50-75% effaced and her head is station -2. We talked to the Dr. about what happens when I go into actual labor. I'll be off bed rest on 4/26. Jolie is predicted to weigh around 5 lbs. He said that 50% of all patients go in to labor within 3 days after they stop taking the Terbutaline pills. Since I'm at maxium dosage on them. We think that Jolie will be coming at the end of the month. Although, anything can happen. If she were to come now, she would do very well in the outside world, but would have to be in the NICU for up to a week.
Week 34 April 8/9 Fifth Trip to L&D; After 4 hours of contractions, we headed back to L&D. I was given a shot of Terbutaline, but the contractions didn't totally stop. They gave me the Fetal Fibronectin test again. Once again it was negative. So, we should be able to make it to 36 weeks. I'm still 1 cm dialated and the cervix is long but still soft. They decided to monitor me overnight. So, we actually got to see a real L&D room! I was given a saline IV to help hydrate me and a dose of Nubain to help me relax and sleep. The contractions finally stop some time overnight. I did get about 4 or 5 hours of sleep. My bedrest orders are to continue the same, as well as, the Terbutaline pills. I'm maxed on the dosage of the pill. So if the contractions come back, we have to go back to L&D. The goal is to still get to 36 weeks!
Week 32 March 28 Ninth Dr. Appt; Everything looks good, Jolie is growing and has a strong heart beat of 160/min. Jolie's weight is predicted to be between 3 1/2 - 4 lbs. I'm to continue the bed rest as I've been doing. We need to get to at least 36 if not past 37 weeks.
Week 32 March 26 Fourth Trip to L&D; Contractions wouldn't stop even with the Terbutaline pills. It took two shots and two pills of Terbutaline to get the contractions to stop. Apparently my body is building a tolerance to the Terbutaline. They gave me the Fetal Fibronectin test again. Luckily, it was negative. So, we're safe for the next two weeks. I'm officially 1 cm dialated and the cervix is long but still soft. I'm to continue to stay in the horizontal position for most of the day. They upped my Terbutaline pill (5 mg - double dosage) every 3 hours around the clock to stop the contractions. They also gave me a sleeping pill to help me sleep through the night. Unfortunately, it only lasted about 3 hours, but it was a solid 3 hours of sleep.
Week 31 March 19 Eighth Dr. Appt; Everything looks good, Jolie is growing and has a strong heart beat of 155/min. Dr. says that I can get up a little more than I did over the past weekend. I'm allowed to sit at the computer for short periods of time. But, still have to spend the majority of my day horizontal.
Week 31 March 16 Jolie's Baby Shower; Hosted by Auntie Andrea, we had a great time despite being on bed rest. Jolie got lots of cute clothes. She's going to be the best dressed baby!
Week 31 March 15 Third Trip to L&D; Started to bleed, Was monitored for a couple of hours. They gave me the Fetal Fibronectin test again. Luckily, it was negative. So, we're safe for the next two weeks. We were told that I have an irritable uterus. Appearently, I am having mini contractions that I'm not feeling. I'm also fingertip to 1 cm dialated, slightly effaced (cervix is softening) and Jolie's head is -3 Station. After two shots of Terbutaline, they sent me home on 6 weeks Bed Rest. I'm to stay in the horizontal position for most of the day. Also, I have to take a Terbutaline pill (2.5 mg) every 4 hours around the clock to stop the contractions. What a way to spend our 5th anniversary - In the L&D!
Week 30 March 14 Seventh Dr. Appt/Second Trip to L&D; While waiting to see the dr, contractions were coming 5 minutes apart. Jolie is doing great with a heart rate around 150-160/min. Dr did an internal and everything is tightly closed. Told to take it easy the next few days.

Week 25 February 5 1st Trip to Labor & Delivery (at 3 am); Mommy was having Braxton-Hicks Contractions for 3 hours, 5 - 15 minutes apart. At L&D, they gave Mommy 2 shots of Terbutaline over a 3 hour period while they monitored Jolie's heart beat (around 160/min) and Mommy's contractions. Mommy was also given the Fetal Fibronectin test to see if labor would be coming with in the next two weeks. Luckily, that test came back negative.
